(BEAR VALLEY SHOPPING CENTER–NEAR HOME DEPOT)\nTIME: MEET AT 8:45AM AND DEPART AT 9:00AM\nLUNCH: Casa Sanchez Mexican Restaurant\, 706 Main Street\, Fairplay.\nhttps://www.casasanchez-mexicanrestaurant.com/menu\n*Separate checks allowed only if waitstaff is notified before placing your order.\nHOST: PATTY TROXELL\nSummer is one of the most beautiful seasons to visit Hoosier Pass (pictures below). Our trip will begin in Denver\, taking Hwy. 285 (Hampden) west to the town of Fairplay\, elevation 9\,953 ft. Travel time is 2 hrs. Lunch will be at Casa Sanchez Mexican Restaurant\, see above link for menu and pricing. After lunch we will take State Hwy. 9 through the town of Alma and begin our ascent to the summit of Hoosier Pass (named after the settlers from Indiana). \nOn our way to the summit\, we will drive past Montgomery Reservoir (picture below). The Reservoir has 95 acres of water which supplies Colorado Springs Utilities with water used for municipal purposes via Hoosier Tunnel. At the summit\, we will stop at the pull-off area to take group pictures\, read historical markers\, and enjoy the view. Hoosier Pass is paved. The pull off is hard pack dirt/gravel. \n\n(Montgomery Reservoir) \nAfter spending time at the summit\, we will descend Hoosier Pass and continue to Breckenridge. The descent becomes hairpin curves\, some at 8% grade\, which level out as we get close to Breckenridge. Spending time in Breckenridge is optional. You can shop\, take a gondola ride\, or stay overnight. If visiting Breckenridge is not on your schedule\, at Hoosier summit\, take State Highway 9 back to  Fairplay\, and your route of choice home. If you want to return to Denver from Breckenridge\, take State Highway 9 to Frisco and I70 east to Denver.

From Shelby’s\nBritish AC predecessor and the 289 and 427 race and street Cobras\, to the rare Daytona and\nWillment Coupes\, to the revolutionary Ford GT40 and the GT350 Shelby Mustangs\, the Shelby\nAmerican Collection has some of the rarest\, most valuable and authentic cars on display\nanywhere in the world. The museum is also home to an extensive collection of memorabilia\, art\,\nrace records\, period photographs and tributes to the pioneer drivers of the era\, and the dramatic\nhistories and life stories of Carroll Shelby\, Enzo Ferrari\, Henry Ford and other icons of 1960s\nauto design\, industry and racing lore. \nWe last visited the Shelby Collection in 2018. We apologize for the inconvenience \n \n \nWhen: Saturday\, June 22th 8am-Noon \nWhere: 23600 East 128th Avenue \nCost: $20.00 for each member and $30.00 for non-members \nHost: Andy Mortenson \n  \nFor those of you who are unfamiliar with autocross\, it is a timed competition held on flat\,\npaved surfaces with few obstructions such as parking lots or airport tarmacs in which\ndrivers navigate one at a time through a defined course marked by rubber traffic cones.\nAutocross courses place the demands on car handling and driver skill rather than on\nengine power and outright speed. It emphasizes safe competition and active\nparticipation. It’s one of the easiest motorsports to get involved in at an amateur level.\nThe speeds are typically less than those encountered in legal highway driving\, but the\ncombination of concentration and precision maneuvering gives drivers an experience\nsimilar to that of a full road course race. \nSome of you will remember the autocross event we held at the Adams County Sheriff’s\nDepartment Training Center in Commerce City last summer and how much fun we had.\nWell\, we’ve scheduled another autocross for the morning of Saturday\, June 22nd. The\nevent will again be held at the Sheriff’s Department Training Center. The facility is\nlocated at 23600 East 128 th  Avenue which is about 5 miles east of Barr Lake.\nWe’ll be using their nice smooth 3 ¼ acre skill pad for our autocross. We have rented\nthe pad for four hours\, from 8:00 AM until Noon. It always takes some time to set up the\ncourse. Since the facility opens at 7:30\, it would be helpful if participants tried to come a\nlittle early to lend a hand with the set up. \nWe’re going to limit participation to the first 25 cars to register because we’d like to\nguarantee each car a minimum of three timed runs through the course during that time.\nThere will be a charge of $20.00 for each member and $30.00 for non-members. Please\nbring cash or a check payable to ZCCC because credit cards can’t be accepted.\nHelmets will be required and the Training Center requires that a release form be signed\nby each participant. The center is in a treeless area and there is no shade so bring sun\nprotection and drinking water. There are bathroom facilities within easy walking\ndistance. So save the date and come on out and watch the fun even if you don’t plan to\nparticipate. If there’s insufficient participation from ZCCC members\, the autocross will\nbe open to the public to help defray costs. \nPlease advise Andy Mortenson if you’re interested in participating in this event or if you\nhave any questions.

Of course\, our favorite part\, cruising the back roads of the Ozarks Mountains. This is a getaway for enthusiasts to have an affordable event\, meet great friends and connections in the community\, and share the Z passion. \n\n\n\nThe Red Lion Inn (Red Kitty as we’ve deemed it) will be home to our main event in 2024 and will be 100% rented out to BZF guests! This property is clean and well maintained\, with free fridges in every room and recently renovated rooms.
