DESCRIPTION:AUTOCROSS 2023 \n \nWhen: Saturday\, June 17th 8am-Noon \nWhere: 23600 East 128th Avenue \nCost: $20.00 for each member and $30.00 for non-members \nHost: Andy Mortenson \n  \nFor those of you who are unfamiliar with it\, autocross is a timed competition held on flat\, paved surfaces with few obstructions such as parking lots or airport tarmacs in which drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course marked by traffic cones. \nAutocross courses place the demands on car handling and driver skill rather than on engine power and outright speed. It emphasizes safe competition and active participation. Since rubber traffic cones define the course\, the hazards are low. The speeds are typically not as great as those encountered in legal highway driving\, but the combination of concentration and precision maneuvering gives drivers an experience similar to that of a full road course race. \n  \nSome of you will remember the autocross event we held at the Adams County Sheriff’s Department Training Center in Commerce City last summer and how much fun it was. Well\, we’ve scheduled another autocross for the morning of Saturday\, June 17th. The event will again be held at the Adams County Sheriff’s Department Training Center in Commerce City. The facility is located at 23600 East 128th Avenue which is about 5 miles east of Barr Lake. \n  \nWe’ll be using their nice smooth 3 ¼ acre skill pad for our autocross. We have rented the pad for four hours\, from 8:00 AM until Noon. We’re going to limit participation to the first 20 cars to register because we’d like to guarantee each car a minimum of three timed runs through the course during that time. There will be a charge of $20.00 for each member and $30.00 for non-members. Please bring cash or a check payable to ZCCC because credit cards can’t be accepted. \n  \nHelmets will be required and the Training Center requires that a release form be signed by each participant. The center is in a treeless area and there is no shade so bring sun protection and drinking water. There are bathroom facilities within easy walking distance. Please save the date and come on out and watch the fun even if you don’t plan to participate. \nNote: The event has now been opened to the public because we only had a handful of members signed up to participate. We now have 13 people on the list which is approaching the 20 car limit. They have a huge parking lot. \n  \nThe actual meetup location for us is the Grease Monkey at the corner of South Boulder Road and Waneka Parkway\, which is across the street from the church. Please be there by 6:30 a.m.\, which gives us ample time to cross the street and line up as a group in a prime location. \n  \nFor those unfamiliar with Coffee and Cars\, it’s a free event for everybody to show off their cars and chat with like-minded people. It takes place on the 1st Saturday of every month. Typically during the summer there are about 200+ cars\, with everything from a Model T to brand-new hypercars. \n  \nAce would love to see a large turnout of members with S30 series\, specifically the 240z\, 260z and 280z\, which makes a nice presentation of the vintage models. However\, all Zs are welcome. From Ace’s experience at previous Coffee and Cars\, there will be a lot of curious people with endless questions and compliments. \n  \nThis is an official ZCCC event\, so he’ll have a signup sheet for members. He’s also inviting people from the Colorado Z-Car Group on Facebook\, so he’s hoping for a very big turnout. Through a combination of its aircraft collection and other exhibits\, the museum tells the story of our nation’s tremendous technological advancements during the war that were essential to the success of the Allied war effort. \nThe museum displays a wide array of fully restored aircraft that represent all aspects of America’s involvement in World War II. Most of the aircraft are meticulously restored to flying condition\, and many are flown at air shows. (For those who shared our visit to the museum back in 2019\, the new hangar has since been completed and many aircraft that were in storage are now on display.) The visit also includes the WestPac Restorations facility which is adjacent to the museum. \nWestPac Restorations is a premier World War II aircraft restoration and maintenance facility. WestPac is a highly specialized FAA-certified repair station that includes paint facilities\, a prop shop\, and a full service metal forming shop. WestPac has been closely affiliated with the museum since its inception\, and allows public access to its facility through the museum’s docent-led tour program. \nWe plan to take the10:30 AM tour which includes WestPac Restorations. We’ll meet at Cabela’s sporting goods located on the southwest side of the intersection of\nI-25 and Ridgegate Parkway in Lone Tree. We’ll leave at 9:00 AM and convoy down to the museum which is located on the south side of Colorado Springs. Please note that there is an admission fee of $17.00 for adults and $15.00 for seniors. The guided tour costs an additional $5.00. While the tour isn’t required\, it’s highly recommended. \nAs an optional extension to the museum visit for us aviation junkies\, lunch will be available at “The Airplane” restaurant adjacent to the Radisson Hotel which is near the museum. The restaurant is built in and around a 1950’s era Air Force KC-97 Stratotanker airplane like the one flown by ZCCC member Steve Robertson. \nContact Andy Mortenson if you have any questions.

By the way this is Bandimere’s 65th and final year at this location. If you intend to do carpooling\, it is suggested that you organize groups on your own. On race day there will be several classes of racers\, doors open at 8:00 am and if anyone wants to catch any of those they will be on their own. Jenny races in the PSCA small tire division which she says will begin around 9:30 to 10:00 am. We will meet at the entrance gate ticket window on race day at 9:15 and begin by sitting together at first\, then members could wander and leave on their own. There is food and drink available so we could make a day of it and. Gateway Classic Cars Staff Member Devin deSimone will be our contact to coordinate the August 26 Event. \n  \nThe Gateway Classic Cars facility is most easily accessed by taking E-470 Peoria exit (Exit 2)\, proceeding north on Peoria to Compark Blvd. where you turn right and head East toward American Furniture Wearhouse. Turn left on Highfield Pkwy. Proceed North to the facility at the intersection on Grassfield Drive.  The facility can also be accessed from the North . Take Potomac St. off Arapahoe Rd. As you proceed South Potomac turns into Chambers Rd\, that will the intersect Grasslands Dr. Turn right and proceed West to the facility. The address appears on the West face of the building. There is also probably a way to get there from Parker Rd. The main entrance is in the North side of the Building\, but this event is in the parking lot  on the south side. Turn in there and proceed to the spot designated for ZCCC.

Awards will be given for the best vehicles in the following categories: American\, muscle and foreign cars as well as truck and motorcycle. The church is located at 13231 E. Mississippi Avenue in Aurora\, two blocks west of I-225. So\, stop by for breakfast and show off your car. It’s a family fun event so bring everyone. Santa Fe Dr.\, Littleton\, CO 80120 \nStaging time and location for ZCCC Members: 7 am at Aspen Grove Shopping Center \nCost: $50 to show car and $10/person to spectate \nZCCC Host: Roy Davis \n  \nThe Colorado Concours d’Elegance announced the rescheduled date for their 40th Annual Colorado Concours. It will be on Sunday\, September 10th! \n  \nWe will meet at the Aspen Grove Shopping Center at 7:00am and proceed to the Arapahoe Community College the concours location at 7:30am. We will be lead to the concours site by the one and only Bruce McKenney. Cars will be staged just to the right (south) of the entrance sidewalk where over flow and American cars were staged previously as construction has prevented use of our usual location in the northwest corner of the show field. \n  \nThe theme for the 2023 Colorado Concours event will be “The Evolution of the Automobile”; and the plan is to display a broad variety of automobiles beginning with an early Ford Model T\, and other antiques of that period. There will be 8 to 10 cars of various makes and models for each decade\, e.g.\, 1900-1919\, 1920-1929\, 1930-1939\, etc. through 1999\, with a total of 80 to 90 cars. The ‘Evolution’ cars will be in addition to the customary display of 350 sports cars. \nThe 2022 Colorado Concours event featured 350 entrants and raised over $75\,000 for the charity. There will be a $50.00 entrant fee per car\, which includes 2 entry passes. Spectators pay $10.00 per person at the entrance gate. Registrations on the day of the event cannot be accommodated. Reservation will be accepted on a first come\, first served basis until a decade group is filled. Entrants will receive complete information and instructions and are encouraged to arrive at the site between 6:30 and 8:00 am. Trailer parking will be available\, and the Evolution entrants will not be judged. \nWe have been told that your event packet(s) from the previous date will work with the new date. Just hang on to the original event packets and bring them with you to the event. If you have any questions or have not yet received your packet\, please contact Terri at Colorado Concours d’Elegance and she will get another one mailed to you in mid-August. Terri’s email is mailto:tarmstrong@abilityconnectioncolorado.org. \nIf you were interested in having your car judged\, either by your club or by the Elite judges\, and DID NOT make the original cutoff date\, Terri will work with you on switching your entry category. \nThey have re-opened online registration for both the REGULAR entries and the EVOLUTION display entries for new registrations. \nNote the new deadlines are as follows: \n          August 11th to sign up to be JUDGED \n          August 23rd to sign up online and have your packet mailed out \n          After August 23rd\, all new registrations will have to sign up at the event on Sunday\, 9/10 at the red registration tent. \nWe know that many of our members were so disappointed that the event was cancelled\, due to weather. We are crossing our fingers for great weather\, as this event is for a great cause.

THEY NEED SOME JOY IN THEIR LIVES. ❤️\n  \nZCCC will be teaming up with the VQ club to donate gifts to children in need over the holiday season. The gifts need to be brand new and unwrapped. This a great time to give a gift to young children at the Children’s Hospital. You will bring so many smiles to the faces of those kids. In fact\, the kids know we are coming and will be watching all of the cars from their windows. \n  \nWe will be meeting at the King Soopers on Colfax and Chambers at 10am. While there\, we will load the toys into a few vehicles and head over to the hospital. Once at the hospital\, we will line up for a short parade lap around the hospital ending in the front where the vehicle(s) with the toys will drop them off to awaiting hospital staff.

We will be hosting the show at Empire Nissan in Lakewood from 4 to 6 pm. The show will be a great time to connect with other car enthusiasts and club members as we start to enjoy the nice weather. This is also a great way to show support for our club sponsor.  So shine up your car and join us for a fun afternoon! \n  \nThe Board has decided to rebate $20 to members of the club who show their car at the Concours DeElegance and two other car shows. The Board is hoping to increase attendance at car shows in support of our vendors and sponsors. In order to qualify for the $20 members must show their car at the Concours and two other qualifying car shows. Our Vice President Mike Rhyne will be tracking who has shown their cars. Then at the annual banquet members who have meet the requirements will receive the rebate. The following is a list of the eligible car shows: \n  \nEmpire Nissan – March 30th \nLet’s Kickoff the car show season -April 27th \nGateway Anniversary Celebration – May 25th \nAdam’s Polishes Shine Fest – June 8th \nConcours deElagance – June 9th \nGateway Cars and Coffee – August 31st \nRemember you must show your car at the Concours and TWO other car show in order to be eligible for the rebate! \nHope to see lots of cars and members this year!!
