SUMMARY:POSTPONED - Colorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Message from Ability Connection Colorado: \nDear Colorado Concours d’Elegance Community Members\, \nWe thank all of the enthusiasts who have gathered time and again to renew long-standing friendships\, celebrate great cars and give so generously to provide for the community’s at-risk children and families. \nAfter several weeks of carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Colorado\, including guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment\, it has become clear that we cannot hold an event of this scale on June 14th as we had hoped. The Colorado Concours d’Elegance Committee and the Ability Connection Colorado (ACCO) team have decided to postpone the event. \nWe are currently looking at potential dates to proceed with the event in the early fall\, and we will update you as more information becomes available. Again\, the health and safety of our entrants\, judges\, show attendees\, volunteers\, staff\, and community are our utmost priority\, and we will not hold the event until we are sure we can have a fun and safe event.

SUMMARY:ZCCC Virtual Shine-n-Show
DESCRIPTION:When we learned of the postponement of the Concourse d’Elegance Car Show due to the corona virus\, we decided to have a virtual shine-n-show that weekend instead. The plan was for each member to produce a couple of quality digital photos that really show it off their car. Then email one or two of the best pictures to Andy Mortenson along with their name and the model and year of their car. Andy then forwarded them to Scott Swiger who posted them on our website. Only the model\, year and an entry number was posted. As an incentive\, each member who entered their car was awarded one active member point. This was a great opportunity for members who live outside the Denver metropolitan area to show off their cars to the rest of the club without leaving home. \nWe had 22 Z Cars of various models\, plus Joe McVicker’s 2017 GT-R\, entered and posted on our website by the June 10th closing date. \nAndy put the cars into five groups with the entry numbers of the cars in each group listed to help in the judging. The GT-R had already won because it was in a class by itself\, both literally and figuratively. The cars were grouped as follows: \nGroup I (240Z/260Z/280ZX); Group II (300ZX-Z31); Group III (300ZX-Z32); Group IV (350Z); Group V (370Z); Group VI (Other). \nThe Service Managers at the three Larry Miller Nissan stores agreed to judge our cars\, so on Thursday and Friday they chose their favorite cars from each group and sent their selections to Andy who tallied the results. (Special thanks to Jodie Cordova\, Chris Doerschlag and Nick Yaw at LHM.) \nOn Saturday\, June 13th\, all the entrants were invited to participate in a Zoom conference where the winners were announced. The winners were as follows:  Group I – Scott Swiger; Group II – Alex Millward; Group III – Travis Scott; Group IV – Diana Inberg; Group V – Robert Hofer; Group VI – Joe McVicker. \nThe winners were each awarded $15.00 AutoZone electronic gift certificates. (Pictures of all the entries and the winners may be viewed at: https://bit.ly/30GzZwS). \n2020 ZCCC Virtual Shine-n-Show Results\nEntry #1: 1972 240Z\n \nEntry #2: 2005 350Z\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #3: 1991 300ZX\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #4: 2008 350Z\n\n \nEntry #5: 2005 350Z\n\n \nEntry #6: 2010 370Z\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #7: 1989 300ZXT\n\n \nEntry #8: 1993 300ZX TT\n\n \nEntry #9: 2018 370Z Heritage Edition\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #10: 2016 370Z Nismo\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #11: 2017 GT-R\n\n \nEntry #12: 1995 300ZX Convertible\n\n \nEntry #13: 2014 370Z Roadster\n\n \n★ WINNER ★ Entry #14: 1974 260Z\n\n \nEntry #15: 2005 350Z Roadster\n \nEntry #16: 1985 300ZX\n \nEntry #17: 2007 350Z Roadster\n \nEntry #18: 1985 300zx Turbo\n \nEntry #19: 2015 370Z Roadster\n \nEntry #20: 1990 300ZX TT\n \nEntry #21: 1971 240Z\n \nEntry #22: 1983 280ZX Turbo\n \nEntry #23: 1971 240Z

SUMMARY:ZCCC Autocross and Car Show
DESCRIPTION:This is a club event to experience autocross\, and is open to other car clubs/auto enthusiasts. Primarily the goal is to have a safe fun environment to perform an autocross timed event. \nIt is a great event for members regardless of driving skill and your cars performance level.  It will be a timed short\, small course full of twists and turns that will test proper braking and the vehicle’s handling.  Let’s take advantage of the fun our Z’s are capable of.  A mistake may cause you to possibly need to buff out cone marks but no crashing into a wall or landing on rocks. Helmets will most likely be required and there will be a waiver to sign to participate.  Closed toed shoes\, long pants and long sleeves are required to be worn during your time around the course.  I encourage everyone to invite spectators and other car enthusiasts.  There will be enough space for cars to stage and more to show them off for those not trying the course.  I think this will be good for the club to get our name out there and show we can autocross with the best of them. I’m working with AAA to possibly furnish the cones.  They are really interested because coincidentally the head of the automotive department of AAA Colorado is passionate and already races in autocross type events.  I’m waiting for their response but they could have a booth for signing up for AAA roadside assistance memberships and travel information. \nThe current projections for member costs is based on the number of people that have shown interest in participating.  Right now its projected to be $25-$50 per person.  The more participants we have\, the lower the cost per person.  I’m trying to get vendors so we have something to eat and drink.  I’m looking to setup a tent with water and stuff for club members.

SUMMARY:National Museum of World War II Aviation Tour
DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs documents the role that military aviation played in the emergence of our nation as a world power during the Second World War. Through a combination of its aircraft collection\, exhibits\, interactive displays\, and docent led tours\, the museum tells the story of our nation’s tremendous technological advancements during the war\, and describes the lasting social and economic changes that were essential to the success of the Allied war effort. \nThrough close relationships with collectors around the country\, the museum displays a wide array of fully restored aircraft that represent all aspects of America’s involvement in World War II. Most of the aircraft are meticulously restored to flying condition\, and many are flown at the museum on public demonstration days. The tour will include a visit to the WestPac Restorations facility which is adjacent to the museum. \nWestPac Restorations\, a premier World War II aircraft restoration and maintenance facility\, is located on the north side of the museum campus. Housed in a state-of-the-art 65\,000 square foot facility\, WestPac Restorations is a highly specialized FAA-certified repair station that includes paint facilities\, a prop shop\, and a full service metal forming shop. WestPac has been closely affiliated with the museum since its inception\, and allows public access to its facility through the museum’s docent-led tour program. \nWe are scheduled for the 12:00 noon tour which includes WestPac Restorations. We’ll meet at Cabela’s sporting goods located on the southwest side of the intersection of\nI-25 and Ridgegate Parkway in Lone Tree. We’ll leave at 10:00 AM and convoy down to the museum which is located on the south side of Colorado Springs. Please note that there is an admission fee of $14.00 for adults and $12.00 for seniors. Contact Andy Mortenson if you have any questions.
