SUMMARY:Nissan’s Finest
DESCRIPTION:When:  Sunday\, September 27\, 10:30 am-1:30 pm \nWhere: Andy’s Frozen Custard\, 3505 River Point Pkwy\, Englewood\, 80110 \nHost:    Travis Scott \nCost:    $0.00 \n  \nNissan celebrates this year a half a century of history and heritage with the 50th anniversary edition models of the GTR and 370z while also releasing a teaser commercial for a new Z car. These variations and other older Nissan sporty vehicles are becoming desirable and more commonly imported now and have their own enthusiast community. I want to do a collaborative event with all Nissan enthusiast and their sports cars to enjoy the end of summer. Please invite anyone with any Nissan make or model. There will be awards based on voting for each model. The third and fourth generation Nissan Skyline known as R32 & R33 can be imported to the USA and has a huge following\, their group has confirmed they will attend hopefully about 15 or more of them. I have contacted a few of 1990’s 240sx owners that will attempt to get 10 cars or so. I’m hoping we can get all of our Z cars down there\, a lot of them have Z cars as well or are into Z cars. Vehicles will be spaced out to accommodate social distancing and please bring mask\, Andy’s frozen custard is excited to have us. \n

SUMMARY:Z Drive Fall Colors - Revised
DESCRIPTION:Revised: Saturday\, September 26th Z Drive Fall Colors: There has been a change of host and a slight change of itinerary due to fires (as stated in the original event write-up). This event will now be hosted by Travis Scott and is still a sanctioned event. We know many people wanted to still go on a drive\, so Travis stepped up to take over the hosting responsibility. The original hosts\, the Sanders\, said they were unable to stay the hosts this year but are already penciling it in to host it next year.  We will still meet on Saturday September 26th at 8:30 am at the East Tin Cup Market (17881 W Colfax Ave\, Golden\, CO 80401). If you’re up for a scenic drive in our gorgeous state\, please attend.\n\n\n\nZ Drive Fall Colors \nWhen: Saturday\, September 26\, 8:30 am \nWhere: East Tin Cup Market (17881 W. Colfax Ave\, Golden\, CO 80401 \nHost: Travis Scott \n  \nSeptember is a time when Colorado shows off its colors. We will meet in Golden and make our way west. Our highlights may be driving past beautiful Echo Lake and Squaw Pass and other colorful places.\nDue to Colorado’s Severe Fire Season we may need to alter our route as we go. \nToday’s drive is a 1⁄2 day (3.5 to 4 hrs. long). With social distancing guidelines being mandatory due to Covid 19\, stopping somewhere to eat for lunch is not planned. Please bring drink and snacks. SUMMARY:Zaturday Drive
DESCRIPTION:GE DIGITAL CAMERA\nGE DIGITAL CAMERA\nGE DIGITAL CAMERA\n I’ve recently learned that the big car show at my church on September 19th has been cancelled due to Corona Virus. Rather than let that date go to waste\, I’ve decided to host a Zaturday drive instead. Some of you may remember a drive we took back in 2013 where we met at Ken Caryl Ranch and drove up to the Brook Forest Inn in Evergreen for lunch. It was a very scenic drive on a lot of fun twisty roads so we’re going to do it again. \nWe’ll meet at 9:30 AM at the Park-n-Ride lot on Ken Caryl Parkway located just east of   C-470.  From there\, we’ll take a leisurely cruise to Evergreen via a circuitous\, but scenic route. The drive covers about 35 miles of paved country roads and should take about 1.5 hours to complete. Detailed route instructions will be provided at the Park-n-Ride prior to departure.  Unfortunately\, the Brook Forest Inn is closed so the drive will end at an alternate location which will be provided in the instructions. Due to the uncertainties surrounding the virus at this point\, I would not plan to have lunch at a restaurant on this drive.

SUMMARY:33rd Annual ZCON “The 50th Anniversary of the Z Celebration”
DESCRIPTION:          When:  September 14-19\, 2020\, Travel 12-13 and 20-21 \nWhere: Nashville\, TN \nHost: Diana Inberg and Alex Millward \nhttp://zcon.org/conventions/2020/event-schedule/ \nThere will be two versions of the drive to Nashville and back.  Alex Millward is trailering his Z\, so this drive will  be a bit slower and more gas stops.  Alex will lead\, this group\, if you choose to drive with him even if you are not trailering you are more than welcome to join him. \nDiana Inberg will lead the Z car Driving group.  This drive will be a little faster and with less gas stops. \nWe are planning on spending the night in Kansas City\, MO on Sept 12th.  We will follow I-70 all the way into Kansas City.  The next morning we are still on I-70 until St. Louis.  Then we take I-64 to Mount Vernon\, Illinois.  The highway changes there to I-57 then to I-24.  The rest of the way to Nashville.  It is about 1200 miles\, 16 hours and 39 minutes without stops.  So plan on more like 17 and half to 18 hours over the two days.  There is a small toll required on this route in Kansas. \nThe return trip will be just the opposite of the trip to Nashville.  Spending the night at the same hotel in Kansas City\, MO on September 20th. \nIf you are joining us for this trip to ZCON 2020\, please email me or Alex to let us know you are going so we can meet you at the starting place: Murphy’s Express\, 3470 Tower Road\, Aurora\, CO 80011. \nRolling out of Murphy’s Express at 8am sharp. \nDiana Inberg email: jinbergatwhat-wire.com or phone or text 402-580-3956 \nAlex Millward email: am300zxatgmail.com or phone or text 720-316-7931 \nThis is the quintessential Z Car Event of every year.  So I hope some of the club or anyone with a Z car will join us.  The week long activities and Z car camaraderie is not to be missed. \nDiana \n

SUMMARY:Z Drive and Donation to Children’s Hospital Colorado
DESCRIPTION:The 11th Annual Bad Does Good Car Show and Toy Drive has been postponed. The Corvette club is looking at and hoping to hold it in September.  I don’t think we should let that stop us!  Let’s take a drive to drop off the toys we have been collecting over the past 6 months and enjoy the morning out on the road exploring Boulder and Larimer counties. \nMeeting spot: Furniture Row parking lot \nWish list details:  Here is the link to Children’s Hospital Wish Lists.  We will be dropping our donations at the North Campus (see page 5). \nFrom here we will head west to Boulder County and North to Laporte exploring the    country roads for a ~2.5 hr. drive.  At any time you feel you need to turn and head toward home there are lots of options by heading east to one of the following towns; Longmont\, Berthoud\, Loveland or Fort Collins. \nBrighton to Laporte 77.4 miles\nLaporte to Boulder 64.1 miles \nThe drive is less then a ½ day and social distancing guidelines in place\, stopping for food may not be an option.  Please bring drink\, snacks and radios so we can communicate. SUMMARY:ZCCC Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:I haven’t been able to provide any details on the June bike ride because of the uncertainties surrounding the corona virus. Normally\, the ride would include lunch at a restaurant to make it more sociable. Recently\, I went on a ride with Patty Troxell in and around Cherry Creek State Park. We were able to maintain social distancing during the ride and having a sandwich at one of the picnic tables by the lake. I think this would work for the club ride as well. I don’t know what restaurants will be opened in June\, but I don’t think I’m going to be eating in one any time soon. So the plan is for everyone to bring a snack or a sandwich for a picnic lunch instead. Also\, please bring a face mask or a bandana you can use to cover your nose and mouth. \nWe’ll meet on Saturday\, June 27th at 9:30 AM in the parking lot of the Denver Mattress/Furniture Row store located at the intersection of Parker Road and Quincy Ave in Aurora. The lot is located on north east corner of the intersection across from the Sinclair gas station. We’ll take a ride in and around Cherry Creek State Park similar to the one I took with Patty. We’ll stop for a picnic lunch by the lake midway through the ride and then return to the parking lot. This will be an easy ride of about 18 miles in length. Please contact Andy Mortenson if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:POSTPONED - Colorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Message from Ability Connection Colorado: \nDear Colorado Concours d’Elegance Community Members\, \nWe thank all of the enthusiasts who have gathered time and again to renew long-standing friendships\, celebrate great cars and give so generously to provide for the community’s at-risk children and families. \nAfter several weeks of carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Colorado\, including guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment\, it has become clear that we cannot hold an event of this scale on June 14th as we had hoped. The Colorado Concours d’Elegance Committee and the Ability Connection Colorado (ACCO) team have decided to postpone the event. \nWe are currently looking at potential dates to proceed with the event in the early fall\, and we will update you as more information becomes available. Again\, the health and safety of our entrants\, judges\, show attendees\, volunteers\, staff\, and community are our utmost priority\, and we will not hold the event until we are sure we can have a fun and safe event.

SUMMARY:ZCCC Virtual Shine-n-Show
DESCRIPTION:When we learned of the postponement of the Concourse d’Elegance Car Show due to the corona virus\, we decided to have a virtual shine-n-show that weekend instead. The plan was for each member to produce a couple of quality digital photos that really show it off their car. Then email one or two of the best pictures to Andy Mortenson along with their name and the model and year of their car. Andy then forwarded them to Scott Swiger who posted them on our website. Only the model\, year and an entry number was posted. As an incentive\, each member who entered their car was awarded one active member point. This was a great opportunity for members who live outside the Denver metropolitan area to show off their cars to the rest of the club without leaving home. \nWe had 22 Z Cars of various models\, plus Joe McVicker’s 2017 GT-R\, entered and posted on our website by the June 10th closing date. \nAndy put the cars into five groups with the entry numbers of the cars in each group listed to help in the judging. The GT-R had already won because it was in a class by itself\, both literally and figuratively. The cars were grouped as follows: \nGroup I (240Z/260Z/280ZX); Group II (300ZX-Z31); Group III (300ZX-Z32); Group IV (350Z); Group V (370Z); Group VI (Other). \nThe Service Managers at the three Larry Miller Nissan stores agreed to judge our cars\, so on Thursday and Friday they chose their favorite cars from each group and sent their selections to Andy who tallied the results. (Special thanks to Jodie Cordova\, Chris Doerschlag and Nick Yaw at LHM.) \nOn Saturday\, June 13th\, all the entrants were invited to participate in a Zoom conference where the winners were announced. The winners were as follows:  Group I – Scott Swiger; Group II – Alex Millward; Group III – Travis Scott; Group IV – Diana Inberg; Group V – Robert Hofer; Group VI – Joe McVicker. \nThe winners were each awarded $15.00 AutoZone electronic gift certificates.
