Gordon’s News In A Flash

What a great turnout for the November meeting on a cold, icy evening. I guess everyone wanted to know who our Vice President was going to be. Well it is Travis Scott.

How exciting we had volunteers to fill all our other positions:
• Gail Mund will be selling tickets for our 50/50 raffle
• Travis Scott will be providing the 50/50 gifts
• Jason Spegal will be doing Name Tags

Jason Spegal also put together a gorgeous color photo album of all the cars at our recent Autocross. Hopefully he will bring it to a few more meetings.

Thanks to everyone for sharing a little about yourself during our “Getting to Know You” session.

A new Appointed Position was created for a Constitution Analyst so he/she can advise the Board on Constitutional issues. Please let me know if you are interested.

At the December meeting, Alex Millward will share some of his exciting plans as our new Inter-Club Liaison.

Welcome back member Jacki Barton who already volunteered to host a December Toy Drive. Please bring a toy, clothing or monetary donation to the December meeting. Read about it in this issue of the Odometer.

Looking for a thrilling race car movie? Don’t miss Ford v Ferrari! Too bad they didn’t have a Z in the movie.

It was so nice having Ron, Carole and Judy back at the meeting and on the road to recovery.

Let’s kick-off the December festivities with a little fun at the Derman’s Holiday Party. I hope you get to spend memorable times with friends and family and you have a great New Year. Talking about the New Year, please note our January meeting will move to January 8, 2020. Regardz,

Don Gordon, President

Extra

From ZCCC Archives: Sunday, February 12th 1989

Article written by Bruce Sparr for the March, 1989 edition of Odometer. “The ice races at Georgetown were a great success.  42 cars showed up, 8 of which were from the Z club.  A course was plowed through the snow and off we went.  Debbie Carlson complained of the narrow track and insisted on trying to make it wider to no avail.  Z cars are lousy snowplows and she was on a first-name basis with the wrecker driver by mid afternoon.  Congratulations to Mark Kirsch for a fine performance and 2nd place in his class, on a windswept, icy course.  Also, 1st place in that class was won by a non-member driving Sue Keim’s car.”

That year, club members Larry Hutfles was president and Debbie Palmquist-Carlson was Treasurer.
