January Odometer Contents

“Whooo umm yeah
Life is like a road that you travel on
When there is one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There is a world outside every darkened door
Where blues will not haunt you anymore
Where brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won’t hesitate
To break down the garden gate
There’s not much time left today
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you are going my way
I want to drive it all night long”
Life is a Highway by Tom Cochrane (1991)

Another year has come and gone and unfortunately some of our members have also gone. We lost Scott Guthrie, Charlotte Robertson, Connie Hill, Alan Sar and Bill Barton. Scott was President of the club two times and Charlotte was Secretary for one year after I roped her into it. The song says, “When there is one day here and the next day gone”. We all know this to be true. Something else we all know is that “Life is a highway” with construction zones and detours. You never know where you’ll end up or when you’ll get there but I know we are glad that these members highways of life led them to us. They will all be missed.

Most of you are aware that I offered a limited-edition print, “The Legendary Z”, for bid to our members with the proceeds going to the club. I did get a couple of bids with the high bid of $75.00 being made by Alex Millward. When I told Alex he is the winner, he upped his bid to $100.00 as that was the opening bid I had been asking for. Thank you, Alex.

The Board has been considering alternate meeting sites for the monthly meeting. I’m wondering if we only need to find some place else just for the summer months when the golfers are at the Overland Golf Course club house when we are there. What do you guys think? Don’t be shy. Let me or a Board member know.

As I look out my home office window and see it snowing really hard on this last day of the year, it’s hard to imagine getting into the Z’s and taking a drive. As hard as it is to imagine, we know that warm weather is going to come and we’ll all be chomping at the bit to get into our cars. Let’s all think about car related events to host this year and get them on the club calendar. The more the merrier and think about those points adding up to get you an Active Member Award the next time awards are handed out.

Well, I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Years and I’ll see you all at the next meeting on January 2, 2019, at Overland Golf Course.

Interested in seeing Facebook postings for ZCCC, but don’t want to join Facebook?

While many members are very active with using social media, there are also many members who do not wish to take part in social media. If you would like to see the posts on our Facebook page, but not join Facebook, you simply need to go to www.facebook.com/zcarclubofcolorado. It will bring up a screen you – don’t need to do anything.  The screen asking if you want to sign in will pop-up, but you can hit “Not Now” to continue viewing ZCCC’s Facebook. This screen will continue to pop-up while you visit Facebook.  Even though the pop-up screen is cumbersome, it is an option that will allow you to see posts. If you are a Facebook member and a member of ZCCC, please search for and join our Z Car Club of Colorado Members Group.
